Hand carved from wood, this impressive primitive asmat tribe sculpture relates to the myths and tales of local aboriginal tribes.  The Asmat tribe resides in dense rain forests off the coast of Papua, Indonesia and have been cut off from modern civilization until recently.  They believe that all things have a spirit…humans, animals and plants.   Additionally, they also believe that the world is divided between that which can be seen and unseen which is the realm of the spirits.  An original art piece, this statue honors the spirit of all living things.
